As a reviewer (much less the host of AV Rant), I am asked on a regular basis for my opinion. Everyone from the checkout guy at the supermarket to random people at parties want me to tell them which is the best display or speakers or HTiB. Audioholics has put together a number of documents to help people help themselves. This will probably not really be one of them. Someone once said that there are no stupid questions. That person was stupid. This installment will deal with questions about general questions.

I have absolutely loved this series of articles.

If I get one of these digital converter boxes, how close will I have to sit to be able to see this HD stuff on my 40 year old 12" black and white portable?

About to level of color and PQ quality you 40+ eyes can handle JOKE

The reason I can laugh is becuase I am old enough to remember the frist color TVs and when they put (color) in parthensis after the few shows that were actually in color. I watched many of the original Lon Cahney movies in Black/white.

I bought my first Maganvox 13" color TV in 1969 for $300; they were still expensive back then. Tuningi was manual and there was a tint, red/green emphasis and blue/red emphasis. I laugh because if I still had it it would be close to 40 years old and in today's standards the picture quality sucked!

Oh yes, if you take that 1969 cost in today's terms you would be talking about $3,600+ dollars.

My first color set was in 1975, a 19" top of the line RCA ColorTrak. $497.00
I was hog heaven. That's when I moved up from my 12" B&W set. Now I had "big" screen and color.
