I'm here in the Blue Ridge Mountains, sitting all bundeled up on the back porch of the cabin we rented for the holiday. We'll be here through the weeka and come home next Saturday night.

It's only our second night and I already feel completely decompressed. I've simply walked away from the nightmare that his my job, from the nightmare that is my industry, from the nightmare that is our current economic situation.

Right now I could care less. I looked out the window this morning and watched the sunrise over the mountains, and saw a 10 point buck.. there's also an 8 and a 6 here as well. Everyone here is so hospital and I love every single minute I'm here. We drove about an hour away to Helen Georgia and visited a local winery. We bought a case and plan on visiting another one tomorrow.

The weather is cold, but perfect for this time of year. My mom and my sister arrive Tuesday and will stay in the cabin about a 5 minutes walking distance from ours. It's gonna be a great Thanksgiving. Nancy's already been to 3 antique shops and I'm so relaxed that I don't even mind following around looking at old stuff.

I'll post some pics when we get back.

The only thing missing is a nice hookah session. I'm about to head out for one, and it's nice and chilly here too.

Have fun at the cabin, the great out doors is the most relaxing place you can be.

Chris, very cool! I'm glad that you are getting a chance to sit back and relax. No home theater, no stereo...but apparently, the internet. :)

The key to as great get away is holding onto it as long as you can when you arrive back to the real world. When you get back to work and things go wrong and stress begins to build up, walk away for 2 minutes, close your eyes and think about that sunrise in that cabin. Do the same as financial issues bare their ugly heads. You have to try really hard to hold onto your good times and don't let everyday life take them away.

Hey guys. I haven't checked email, the stock market, the indices, currency... nothing. Part of what's relaxing to me is doing what I want when I want. Right now, it's so damn dark out you can't see anything, so I'll pop on the internet for a bit and actually look up stupid stuff that I would absolutely never take the time to do while at home. The girls watched a bit of tv today, but for less than an hour. We're just hanging out and it's great. We brought Christina's best friend with us for the week so they're having fun hanging downstairs together.

It rained all day today, but it still feels perfect. Nancy and I actually got bundeled up and went for a walk up here on the mountain. We didnt' even care that it was 35 degrees and drizzling. We found a little dog wandering around so I got him to come to me to see his collar so we could call his owners. This is funny... the tag read. "Hi I'm Bobby! I live here on My Mountain. Just ignore me. I know my way home."

We've saw him later on in the day too and he followed us back to the cabin and he just came right in and laid down by the fire and slept all day. I'm not sure where he lives, but he's still here with us tonight. I know he must have a home, but he doesn't seem intent on leaving. I'm a bit conflicted about it, because I'm sure he belongs to someone, but at the same time, who would let their little dog run up and down the mountain in the freezing rain all night. I'm thinking at some point, he'll get hungry and want to go home so we haven't given him any goodies just for that reason. We'll see what happens.

Other than that, I'm having a great time. The kids havn't got out of their pj's since they got here. Rain or shine, we're all getting up early and going horseback riding. There's a really nice day spa about 45 minutes from us and we're all gonna go there tomorrow in the afternoon and get some pampering and have dinner at this flashy Italian place. I'm happy just sitting in my rocking chair, but it's nice to get out and do some stuff too. I think Wednesday we're going to two other winerys. I'm surprised at how good the wine is here. They're able to group a lot of different French varietal grapes here. I'm working on this oak aged Cab we bought yesterday at the Habersham Winery and I would say it's just as good as any other $40-$50 cab I've had. Good stuff here in GA.

I'm gonna head out and go make dinner. We found this seafood market in town and bought a bunch of lobster, shrimp, and sea bass. I'm going to make a big giant pot of bouilliabaise... perfect for the weather here.

Too much information. Some of us have to get out and go to work as usual. It's harder when all I want to do now is grab my wife and run away to a cabin in the mountains.

Chris, My wife and I spent 3 days in Helen Ga. on the way to Pigeon Forge Ten. It was in Sept. 2 years ago, in Helen they were getting ready for the Festivities in Oct. We visited Anna Ruby Falls in Helen. Wow it was beautiful. It was quite the hike to get up there to the spot where the falls is located. We weren't accustomed to the altitude, and it was taxing on us. Im very glad that yall are having a great time. If you have the free time, visit THIS place. It has some very good candy, homemade soaps, and whatnot. We bought some soap called "hogwash" I wish i had a few more bars of it. It is very fragrant and has pumice in it. Great for washing after yard work. Take lots of pics, we would love to see the sites yall visit.

Peace,
Tommy

Hey Tommy, we tried to get back to Helen, but we never made it back. We didn't get to the falls either. Between doing absolutely nothing... which was part of the grand plan and getting done what we really set out to do, it was amazing how the days just went away. The days just flew by. We'll be back to Blue Ridge again though. We really loved it there.

I've got your link saved for next time!

Well we got back to land of flatscape last night around 11:30pm. We stopped in Atlanta to go to Lennox Square and do some shopping. The girls were excited to go. I really like Atlanta. It's sophisticated and forward, but seems to lack the pretentious feel that makes me want to shoot myself.

We had such a great time in Blue Ridge. I figured I use to photobucket to post up some pics. It took me a bit, but hopefully I did it right. I"m still just wiped and my brain isn't quite on all cylinders just yet.

That's where I spent a lot of my time. I sat out there eating real beef jerkey and even had a little bit of chewing tobacco. It was great.

The only downside is the depression of being back here in the real world. Really, after 7 days, you sorda get accustomed and settled in... a bit too much so... and it makes it harder to leave.

It was a great time though.
