I pretty new to home theater but I’ll do my best to explain the issue am having, when I connect my cable box ( Motorola DCH-3200) from HDMI output to an HDMI input on my AV receiver ( pioneer VSX82TXS) then from my receiver HDMI out to and HDMI in to my plasma I get no picture or sound but when I go directly from the cable box to my plasma I get a picture. I do know that the cable box supports HDCP, Are there differences between HDMI cables? I need help please.

Welcome to the forum!

One thing that comes to mind is that you might need to assign the HDMI input on your receiver.

There are differences between HDMI cables, but really nothing significant at shorter lengths. How long are your cables?

I've already assigned the HDMI input on the receiver, the cable (monster ultra 600) cable is 4ft long.

You shouldn't have any problems with that cable. I've read others on here discuss handshaking problems with HDMI. Hopefully someone else will chime in. I don't own any HDMI gear, yet, so I can only parrot what I've read.

Better yet hunt down the inventor of HDCP and strangle him with that monster cable. :D He ruins lives everyday.
