Ok, so I am new here, and I suck at home theater. I wasn't sure what area to put this in, so if it needs to be moved, please move it. I attempted to search for this, but found nothing that helped.

I have a cheap everything on my patio: LG bluray player model BPM35 connected via HDMI to an LG 55LJ55 55" 1080 smart tv which is connected via optical digital cable to a ZVOX SB500 sound bar. Everything has been working great on it until I put a Blu ray in the player. DVD format has played and sounded great, directv sounds great, then last night I put a bluray in, and the sound came through fine up to the main menu, but as soon as the actual movie started, no sound through the soundbar, only the TV speakers put out sound. If I put the DVD format of the movie in, no problem, sound comes through the soundbar, but blu ray sound will not. The picture is fine in either case, it is just the sound.
Any ideas?

Sounds like it didn't like the lossless codec of the bluray disc as passed thru the tv....assuming you were playing a bluray with such a movie soundtrack (DTS HD-MA or Dolby TrueHD). What are the audio output settings on the bluray player? Went to look for the tv you mention and get this http://www.lg.com/us/search.lg?search=55lj55 which one is yours?
