No Auto Setup Menu appears on Yamaha RX-V2400

I recently added rear speakers to my 5.1 system to achieve 7.1 sound.
I can't get the auto setup menu to appear on the monitor to run YPAO configuration.
When I change the parameter/setup switch to setup, the SET MENU screen does not appear. Instead the OSD mode settings appear.
How can I get back to the SET MENU screen?

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated (and help to regain my sanity).

Thx!!

Thx for the help. I've scoured the web and can't find any factory reset instructions that seems to work on this unit. I even downloaded the service manual but that didn't tell me how to reset it.

I'm resigned to leave the beast unplugged for a week to force the reset unless someone else knows how to force a reset.

Thx again

I don't see it in the manual, altho there is something about resetting parameters using param.ini on page 80 (at least page 80 on the manualslib count).....have you tried a simple soft reset...i.e. unplugging the unit for a while?

Agreed, nothing in the manual on reset (frustrating).

I've tried power down multiple times, no dice.

Yep, that was the same post I found also. It didn't work, and I found another board with a cut/paste copy where someone else confirmed it doesn't work.

Looking at the service manual, I see a reference in the "Starting Diag" section (Page 41) that says:
PRESET INHIBIT (Initialization inhibited) / PRESET INHIBIT
RAM initialization is not executed. Select this sub-menu to protect the values set by the user.
PRESET RESERVED (Initialization reserved) / PRESET RESERVED
Initialization of the back-up RAM is reserved. (Actually, initialization is executed the next time that the power is turned on.) Select this sub-menu to reset to the original factory settings or to reset the RAM. Any protection history will be cleared.

That would seem to be exactly what I want to do, however it's not clear, or I'm to confuzzled to actually execute it. I was able to start the unit in diag mode, changed to Preset RSRV and power down. Wait 1 minute, power the unit back up.

Still can't bring up the SET MENU to appear! Only the OSD Mode appears. Perhaps the Optimizer Mic port can't see I've got the microphone plugged in?

Onkyo had the same routine for many of their avrs for a microprocessor reset, have you found a general one for Yamahas?

Might make sure the mic port doesn't have lint or something like that from making a good connection.

Maybe call Yamaha on Tuesday and see if they can help....

Good luck!
