No audio to right speaker

Hello,

I have a Pioneer//VSX-520 and it's sending full sound to my left front speaker and my sub, but only sending muffled audio to my right speaker. I was messing around with it on standby and it switched from full audio to my left speaker to my right speaker and now only muffled sound to my left speaker. Any ideas? Don't have the remote and read through the online manual, but found no solution.

Check all your connections from the Pioneer to the speaker terminals to make sure they are all tight and no shorts (no two leads are touching). The next step would be to do a processor reset to factory default condition. Before you do the reset, you may switch the left and right channel connections to see if the symptom follows. Once you verify the connections are good, instead of trying to troubleshoot, processor master reset could be the quickest way to find out if the unit needs repair.

Thanks for the reply PENG,

I made sure the connections were good, even switch the speaker wire and the opposite speaker statted working but not the other. Also did a reset, still only 1 speaker getting full audio :(

If the receiver us under warranty, then it needs to go for warranty repair. If out of warranty, I would replace it. At the cost of that unit, I doubt a repair would be cost effective.

If you have already done the basic troubleshooting steps as described and reset it to factory default as below,

"Resetting the main unit
Use this procedure to reset all the receiver’s
settings to the factory default. Use the front
panel controls to do this.
1 Switch the receiver into standby.
2 While holding down the BAND button,
press and hold the  STANDBY/ON button
for about two seconds.
3 When you see RESET? appear in the
display, press AUTO SURROUND/STREAM
DIRECT.
OK? shows in the display.
4 Press STEREO/ALC to confirm.
OK appears in the display to indicate that the
receiver has been reset to the factory default
settings."

then the unit is defective. As TLS said for the price for a new one (under $200) it is not worth sending back for repair unless it is still under warranty. Being a 2010/2011 any warranty would likely have expired. Keep in mind the entry level Pioneer receivers don't have much output so be careful not to push them beyond their limits if you want the next unit to last long.

Yep I was going to say a hard reset of it. Usually either hold the power button down for 20 secs or un plug the unit for 5 min.I had a similar prob w ith my 1522k
