Receiver: Denon AVR 3805
Speakers: Klipsch 2 bookshelf, 1 center, and 4 tiny guys
DVD: Yamaha
TV: Sony KDF 42WE655
Subwoofer: Martin Logan
Humax DRT800 DVR/TiVo
100% Monster cables

I've never had any problems with setup before - I bought a new receiver, 2 bookshelf speakers, new subwoofer, and upgraded all my cables.

I've referred to all owners manuals, used the setup recommended by Sony that came w/ my tv; used the setup recommended by Humax; tried to use the setup recommended by Denon, but I really couldn't completely figure it out.

I get no audio at all. Nothing. Not when playing DVDs, or with TV/Cable. Video works great.

I haven't set up all the speakers yet - only have the center "plugged in". Also - used the banana plugs from Monster to make connections easier.

I'm really at a loss on how to troubleshoot further. Everynight, I come home and try something new. Any ideas?

First of all hook up you bookshelf speakers to the main L/R inputs.

Secondly what is your connection from the DVD to the receiver and what is your connection from the TV to the receiver.

DVD to receiver component video and digital audio.

TV to receiver component video and composite audio. (tried digital audio, but I think it's not working on the tv. Plugged the cable in and the red optic beam isn't shining as it does on the other digital audio plugs.)

I had the same thing when I bougit my Denon 2802.

the 2802 had a fairly complex setup procedure of it's own. I couldn't even get the radio to work until I set it up according to the manual.

Might I suggest you complete the speaker hookup before continuing? Ya never know...

Good point about the setup procedure. It's the only thing I haven't attempted on the 3805. It looks pretty darned intimidating and I've been avoiding it. Even more scary now that someone on this forum found it to be so.

I will hook up all the speakers and go through the setup.

Finished setup - wasn't as bad as the printed instructions suggested!

And, everything is working perfectly. Thanks everyone for your help.
