No 3d on sony S570...?

I have a Sony NX810, Sony S570 BD, Onkyo TXNR808 and brand new Mediabridge HDMI cables, seen on the link below. My BD player states that either my BD player or my Monitor is not 3d capable when I insert a 3d disk, what gives?

Attempt to directly connect the Blu-ray player to the television to determine that the receiver is not causing a handshake issue. If it works after bypassing the receiver then contact Onkyo or check their website to see if there is a firmware update available for your receiver that will patch the handshake problem.

If this does not work you should attempt to update the firmware on your Blu-ray player as it may not be ready to accept certain 3D Blu-ray discs depending on when the BDP-S570 was shipped from the manufacturer.

Firmware is the first thing you should check because I don't think that player shipped with firmware for 3D when it first came out, as Seth mentioned. According to the specs, it should be 3D capable.
