Bosso makes some killer subs for certain....

He is another firm believer in Dual Opposed Sealed designs.... No question that the work he puts into his subs is over the top... very helpful and extremely knowledgeable as well... :)

I think he used some really cheap pyle 6.5" drivers in that MBM and got some very impressive results.

I would imagine that they will be comparable in output and SQ as the Seaton Submersive, but best to get answers straight from the Man :)

I do like the design, very different. I believe he will build to suit, not sure on price - you'd have to ask him.... I'll get him over here...

I believe he was quoted as saying a 15" model would be about twice the price of a SVS Ultra.

Not with that kind of wood work and attention to detail.... Maybe double that

I read the MBM thread. I was quite impressed. Bosso has a real gift in design.

I *love* the bamboo one, truly breathtaking. I hope he's still making them in 5 years (by that time, i'll be allowed to upgrade :) )

Matt I seemed to have misread your post here.... I thought you said about the same price as the ultra...

Regardless, I have been in contact with Bosso, and I'm sure he'll be stopping in to answer any questions you all may have...

Warp,

I appreciate the heads up. It's been a long while since I've been on this forum.

To everyone else: Thanks for the kind posts.

I haven't offered to sell my subs in the past because I really have been on a quest for the perfect drivers for the relatively small size, high power and other details. After some 45 or so drivers from around the globe, I ended up settling on the Adire Tumult MKII 15s.

I bought 4 of them and built a pair of the mahogany version. They really were great drivers, but, alas, Adire left us in a soured overseas venture.

Recently, I purchased some drivers from JJ at AE. He had some problems with the top plates and John decided to take them back and rebuild new ones, which I'm anxiously awaiting.

If they test like I think they will, he and I will talk more about a few mods I asked for, after which, I may build a run using the new bamboo finish in coffee (shown in the pic) and black (still under construction).

The subs have a unique active driver cooling system and can take pretty massive input power. They're passive subs that require a rack placed amp. Depending on the amp used, you can spend $300-$800 and get 2-3KW of power.

Comparing the Raven to the Submersive is difficult to do, but at 3KW you have 4dB more power at the start. My subs also come with the Marchand BASSIS, which allows for virtually any F3 from 9Hz to 40Hz and any system Q, depending on the room and the listening level.

A simple way to get some idea of output is to look at Ilkka's outdoor test of a single Tumult MKI powered by 1,200W, and add about 7-8dB to his CEA numbers for 2 Tumult MKIIs with 3KW, keeping in mind that the MKI rolls off 4-6dB more by 100Hz going up in frequency than the MKII.

That would put the Raven at or very near the top of his list, average max output from 20-80Hz. The SubMersive is a great sub, but I don't think it will best a Raven, certainly, at least, not in the looks department, IMHO. :)

To be fair, I had a few years head start with a 2x15" dual-opposed design, and I pay far more attention to industrial design than most any commercial builder does.

In any case, 4 new subs are being built. I can't wait to load them and fire them up. When the new drivers arrive, I'll update this thread for anyone who may be interested, with pics, graphs and subjective thoughts.

Bosso, thanks for taking the time to stop by.....

Appreciate your experience and knowledge here.... I know John @ AE will come through for you, he's a dedicated individual and has some great general products for the public.

Can't wait to see what comes up with your testing results....

Patrick
