Folk,

I was leafing through the classifieds this weekend and found a pair of NHT SuperOne Xu's and an NHT sub (unspecified) for $250.

Is this a good speaker / deal?

Thanks-

~Josh

These are plastic enclosure "outdoor" versions of the standard Super One. I've always liked them, though I preferred the "normal" version due to the very nice gloss piano lacquer cabinets. A tad on the bright side, they are pretty accurate and have a clean sound. Depending on the sub, it may be a good deal.

I have a pair of SuperZero Xu's as my surround speakers. I've always been impressed with NHT's sound. I don't find them overly bright for my tastes...they have a clear, open high end. I paid about $80 each for mine (though I bought them at dealer's cost at the time). For $250 for SuperOne's and a sub it's a good deal. Most NHT subs are minimally $500 list. By the way, unless it's the SuperOne XU outdoor speaker, it's not recommended for outdoor use.

From the NHT website: "NHT's Super Zero 2-way 4.5" mini monitor and SuperOne 2-way, 6" mini monitor loudspeakers are available in a specially designed Xu Extended Use) configuration. Xu's signature molded cabinets represent more than two years of research and development to perfect the special materials and unique internal ribbing that renders the enclosure sonically inert and identical to NHT's wood cabinets.

Overwhelming acclaim from the audio media has firmly established the legendary sound quality of the Xu speakers. Both models have similar sonic signatures, with the Super One offering the greater bass response. Both models also provide the utmost versatility in placement throughout the the home, owing to soft cabinetry lines, black or white finish options, wall brackets and isolation bases (included)." "SuperOne is also available as an outdoor version."
They are not the most efficient speaker though (86db).

Provided the speakers are in great shape, that's a smoke'n:D deal. I love their sound.

Thanks for the input, all. I have a question into the seller on which sub it is. If all sounds ok I'll go have a look.

Turns out the sub is a NHT SW2Pi. An older sub / amp combo that's supposed to hit 27 Hz, in room a little better. Back in the day it would retail for around $500.

I'm going to try and setup an audition with the seller.
