The Setup:
I have an entertainment center with all my electronics. DVD player/N64/SNES go to a junction box that goes to the back of the TV (dual audio cables and s-video). There is also a VCR that just goes to the TV RF via coaxil.

The Proposal:
I want to have a stereo system (yet to be purchased) nearby that I can press a button or two and have the audio come out of the stereo for whatever device I'm using: DVD player, game, or just for watching TV (we can deal with the VCR later if need be, but make note there is room on the junction box for me to run the coaxil cable through it).

The Questions:
How do I do this? What equipment to buy? What to look for in a stereo system (I know it will at least need dual audio in)?

Buy an AV receiver and use it as the junction box. Make sure it has enough inputs to satisfy your needs.

thanks for the help

I just looked up AV receivers though and they seem a bit steep. I don't suppose there is a simple coverter that can send the dual RCA cables to two different devices (in my case stereo/TV).

You could buy a simple A-B switch. I think Radio Shack sells one.

But I thought you said that you were going to buy a stereo system. If so, what's the issue?
