howdy.
I been complaining to the old lady for years that my LPs are rotting out there in the garage cuz we ain't got the means to play them anymore. well my wife, she gets a 250.00 gift card from best buy for buying some stupid phone and we think we'll go ahead and get a Yamaha RX-V479 receiver. yeah I know ill have to get some sort of a pre amp for my old turntable...which by the way still works great. least it did the last time I used it...
now this receiver from Yamaha is a receiver geared for surround sound and my wife....she's a movieholic of sorts and wants to take advantage of all the receivers features to enjoy her action packed movies even more...
AND I HATE WIRES!!!
so I see wireless speakers out there and I assume they'll all work with anything right? Or do I need a receiver that is capable for wireless speakers...
Anyway I'm gonna explore the forum a bit so ill see ya later....

So who is really more demanding then, the wife who simply wants to watch movies in surround sound or the mate who hates wires so much that he'll work hard and spend more to avoid them?

Wire installation is no longer a big deal, and a helluvalot cheaper to execute than decent wireless because with those you still need wires to bring power to them. Or you can find some cheap battery powered speakers? :D

Imagine the nerve!

Sorry, but "Audioholic" and "hate wires" don't really go together. You do know that every "wireless" speaker must still be plugged into the wall, right? There will be wires from your turntable to preamp to AVR, cable/sat box to AVR, Bluray player to AVR, and AVR to TV. You also know you can get MUCH better wired speakers for the money than wireless, right?

My suggestion: suck it up. Get some decent speakers and run the wires. But if you're determined to go wireless, at least include a Cost vs Quality analysis before you jump. Pick a budget, then compare the number of quality wired speakers to the number of quality wireless speakers within that budget. It might make your decision easier.
