I've been trying to educate myself on big screen tv's as we would like to purchase one in the next few weeks. I am leaning towards the RP CRT tv however they sure are huge!

We are thinking of getting a 51" but how in the world do we get this monster down the stairs to our basement? The height on most of them is between 50-52". Can they be taken down the stairs on their sides or are they in two pieces?

Also, what manufacturers should I consider? There are sooo many different tv's such as Samsung, Hitatchi, Sony, Panasonic, etc. I have no idea which one is better than another.

If one purchases these large tv's that don't have stands where do you put all the extras you purchase for the TV such as VCR's or DVD's, home theatre systems, etc?

Many units can be broken down into two separate pieces. The base, and the screen. You will want to check on specifics of each model, and consider paying for delivery so some big ol' delivery guy has to deal with your steps, not you.

You can pick up a A/V equipment rack here:

or at your local Best Buy/Circuit City and furniture stores.

Mitsubishi is one of my favorite CRT companies personally, and the bang for the buck from CRT is great... But, the size? Yep, you know what sucks about CRT already. It's still fun to have it around, just tough to get it down the stairs.

Make that 3 for 3 for Mitsubishi. Mine is 10 years old and still impresses.
