It sounds like your best plan is to hold with what you've got. I still don't have a surround setup, but I will one day. In the meantime, a really good powerful stereo setup is quite effective - and your receiver puts out more power to the main speakers when you're not running surrounds, so it's not like you're wasting unused power or anything.

Upgrade to surround at a later date when the $300 sting has faded from your wife's memory. That's my advice. And enjoy.

Holy smokes! I go to reply to a question, and I see it's already been deleted because I didn't get to it fast enough???

This aint live chat, folks. Most folks here on the east coast aren't even home from work yet. Geez....

Ya gotta be quicker, guy. I mean, 13 hours is way too long to wait for free advice.

I mean, it's not like they pay anyone to sit here and monitor this site to provide instant, free advice. This ain't a corporate help desk, fer chrissake.

I guess some people don't realize this site is populated by hobbiests that FREELY VOLUNTEER information... AT NO CHARGE.

Didja ever notice that most sites, this one included, are made up of people that mostly answer questions and others that simply ask them, generally newbies that leave shortly after their questions are answered? You would hope that those in the latter category would appreciate those in the former.

Many do, but then there's this kind. Since this was his first post, let's hope that with an attitide like that it will be his last. Some people simply expect too much.

...now, if he wants to pay me $75/hr, he can feel free to PM me. I'l lrespond quickly once the check clears. ;)

Apologys to all

I'm sorry I have offended this forum. I looked at my posting after and thought 'would I respond to this?' I thought it was much too long-winded for people to respond to. I hadn't changed it more than ½ an hour when people responded. Mark, this is my first forum of any kind. I hope you bear with me if I hang around awhile. I appreciate the fact that people like you are willing to help people like me get their systems off the ground. I'm not a stupid person, I just thought my first approach was wrong.

That's cool, Simon. I do appreciate your followup; it takes some guts to step back in after shutting the door and hearing people grumbling behind you.

By all means, stick around and feel free to ask more questions.

So how do those speakers sound, anyway?

Receiver postponed.

Thanks GregZ! The speakers sound good to my ear. I think the investment will pay off when my receiver gets here. I was down to the store today, and the salesman told me because of the Electronics Show in Vegas and the amount of back orders they had, that I wouldn't be getting my receiver until the end of February. I hope it's worth the wait!

Long winded? You think you are long winded, you should check some of my posts. :D

We love long winded posts. Seriously, sometimes, just sometimes, it is a lot easier to answer a question, when you understand the entire problem, not just the problem that the person thinks they have.

So hang around, step on somebody's toes, and don't worry about it. We are all big boys. Well, most of us, I do believe this is one girl (woman or what ever I am suppose to call people of the female gender these days) that is on the board.

By the way, I thought everybody was suppose to receive a check based upon the number of answers they gave.

Oops, we don't get that check? I must have misread the post.

Thanks for acceptance, Steve. I read a note here that said the definition of an audiophile is a person who claims to hear the inaudible. I think for now I'll be the inaudible and just read through all of the postings and threads and get myself an online education about stereo systems. From what I've read so far, the information here has been invaluable.
Again my apologies for taking down my first posting and I thank those of you that chose to respond.

Wanna bet, girly boy?

What exactly was the original post, anyway? I mean, since you're so big into childish name calling perhaps you could enlighten me as to the original question?

I thought not....

BTW, I see you're still a little short of providing correct answers, among other things I'm sure. Ain't the internet great? You can say whatever you want from mommy's computer, can't ya?

Tell me, why should anyone take seriously advice from anyome who has in their signature line "Say Hi to you wife for me." Politicaly incorrect, totally crude and grammateticly incorrect. A triple header...

Now, child, if you wish to pursue this further, feel free to PM me.

Then perhaps others besides Gregz would have had a chance to respond to it. So far it seems most of your other responses were either to your apology or my post.

While one definition of an audiophile may be one who hears the inaudiable, it's difficult to respond to read a post that's invisible.

Not all posts are worthy of the pulitzer prize. ...and that includes some of mine. Not my first post here, though. I'll stand by that. Sorry for the brusque tone but I'm sure you can see what it looked like. By simply deleting the post instead of clafifying it (or simply leaving it) it appeared that you took a fit that nobody answered it in a set period of time I resopnded accordingly. Believe it or not, some get persnickity if posts aren't answered in a brief period of time.

When you've been on these (and others) forums and you've answered as many queries as I have (This is not the only forum, y'know) you'll see that quite frequently.

But, notice that at least I kept to the issues available rather than started calling names like some others here. You can get some good advice her if you have a little patience and the wisdom to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Welcome, don't sweat the small stuff and have patience.
