Many people don't like Monster because they feel that the products are overpriced relative to the competition for the same level of performance and that Monster will sue anybody that uses the term 'Monster' in their business name, even if their business has nothing to do with AV or cables and it cannot/should not be confused with the Monster whose business is AV cables.

Their power stuff is pretty good if you can get them at less than retail prices.

Its Politics, nothing more. There is nothing wrong with the products they produse other than the fact some think they are over-priced but they are made well and last a long time, as for sueing others that is corporate game played by many companies. If you look at most companies you will find things you dont like, its like Actors and Musicians talking Politics, we just would rather not know, Monster sues a threat maybe charges too much, Emotiva employs children with 3 fingers for pennies an hour, Wallmart squeezes out the little guy every town they enter, American cars cost too much because of unions inflated wages and pension plans, Kentucky Fried Chicken doesnt hug the birds before the execute them, Bank One charges insane credit rates, and on and on and on. It is a opinion and nothing more and when we get too sensitive we cant buy or enjoy anything as almost everything has a dark or shady side to it. While I own several products from the Monster Corp I dont pay retail but they do what they should, are built well and last so buy it if you like, pass it up if you wish but almost anything you purchase is supporting some form of bad business, the nerds here just focus on a company in this narrow scope and when I say nerds WE ALL ARE, who else would sit online and argue about this silly topic but a nerd?

Right you are....But monster still sucks and I will never buy from them ,just as I don't buy from Exxon or any other company that has such strangling hold on our economy. Just my opinion thats all.

it's because monster sues all establishments (anything actually) that uses the name monster, even those that are totally unrelated to audio-video.

they have sued for:
clothes stores
mini-golf
movies

I do not buy their products because they are expensive and the actual connections fit way to tight on my equipment which makes it for a real pain when disconneting the cable because you can comprimise the receiver input or the cable itself (experience from a cable that was given to me). To me the price of the cable and how well the actual connection of the cable makes with my stereo equipment is the most important. I find Blue Jeans cable canare connections work best on my equipment and fit nice and snug (not too tight or loose):).

I find that the Canare RCA plugs are too loose and don't seem to make a good connection, although in practice it works just fine. I've heard the complaints about certain Monser cable being too tighth and damaging equipment but I wouldn't know about that because the only Monster cables I've ever bought are the low end THX certified cables that are less than $20 apiece.

My cables with the canare connection make a very good connection. I have never had a cable that fit loose. All my previous cables fit too tight though.

Selling something like what's in the link makes you a liar and a thief.

How can you say that when 'patented MicroFiber® is wound around the various wire networks to provide proper isolation and protection from contact generated noise, to ensure the quietest background and the greatest freedom from cable-generated noise.' ;)

Anything with the words 'micro fiber' in it is a winner. Of course you can buy micro fiber cleaning cloths at Home Depot for $2.
