newbie speaker question

Thanks for any help you can give. My girlfriend gave me a pair of Dahlquist DQ-10 phased array speakers that she had stored in her garage for about 5 years. Can I run them normally off any solid state amp, or do they require something special? Any info about them would be helpful

Holy spit! You're girl friend GAVE them to you? And they were just sitting in the garage?

Yeah, apparently they were left by an old boyfriend, and yes, I do feel lucky. I haven't tried them yet, because I wanted to make sure my run-of-the-mill 100w kenwood amp would not damage them or vice-versa.

The Dahlquist speakers in question were introduced in 74 or 75, and used some interesting approaches for the time. Believe they were 400. a piece. Many used them as a reference, and to this day, there are many who find the sound very special. If there was an audio Hall of Fame, the DQ-10's would be in it. Interestingly Dahlquist subsequent speakers never had anywhere near the popularity--not sure if Jon D had sold the company or what by then, but you have my friend an audio legend. Any good SS amp of 60 watts or side or more should be fine,
John
