Hi, I really hope some one here can help me. I just bought the rxv2700 receiver and it is hooked up to a sony xbr 70 inch projection tv via hdmi. the dvd player is also a sony and hooked up to the receiver via component and optical cables. I can get the picture on the TV and i have enabled the hdmi upscalling. I have played around with it and tried 720p and 1080i upscalling but cant seem to notice the difference. That said the picture isnt what I expected, the resoltion doesnt seem as clear as i thought (maybe cause the tv is too big??) then today I noticed when I go to the receiver menu and go "information" it shows the status of the system and it shows an "HDMI error" could this be why the picture isnt as clear? please any one that could give me any advice I will appreciate it. Thank you.

The receiver can't increase the resoluton of the source. It simply converts the incoming signal to an HDMI compatible output. As you've probably realized one advantage is all video sources can be routed to the rx with only one hdmi cable to the tv, but it can't turn SD into HD.\

Did you mean "HDCP error"?

No im am sure it sais "HDMI error" the rxv2700 gives the option to convert the signal as "through" with no upscaling as well as 720p and 1080i under the upscaling menu.

Below "HDMI Error" you should see a series of dashes, indicating no errors. Otherwise error messages (page 144 in manual) would appear.

I'm still a little new to the HDMI upscaling features. It seems that it is somewhat dependant on your tv's abilities as well as far as how much of a difference it makes.

Also, what aspect ratio are you using? I prefer to preserve aspect ratios and anything like "smart zoom" on the 2700 distort the picture too much for my taste.

Maybe someone can chime in with more detail on upscaling.

ok..so I see what your saying..."HDMI error" is the header and IF there are any error it would show underneath it..right? thanks for the help...I dont change the aspect ratio from the receiver and keep it at "full" on the tv (xbr2 70 inch) I am starting to tweak the settings on the TV and I am getting better results ...thanks for the info!!!!!!

I have the Yamaha rx v1700 wich is the smaller version of the 2700 to a Sony xbr1 50 inch and it looks grate.

1.I think your tv might be to big for a grate picture..
2.HDMI error is just a header, ive seen that on mine too.
