Was planning on Paradigm Monitor 11s and a cc390 as the front for my ht speakers. The dealer in my area just approached me with an offer on a demo set of James Loudspeakers.

Demo set is: front l&r are 10g, center is s83 sub is 10s and surrounds are triad gold in ceiling dipoles.

Can anyone tell me anything about these?? I see very little on any of the above in here or elsewhere online???????

Thanks
G

I never heard of them, however from all the indicators - looks like they targeted customers are ones with deep pockets.

Paradigm, Def Teks or most internet direct makers will have comparable/better quality at better price point.

How big is your room? Is it open to other spaces? (kitchen).
Do you have WAV or other design considerations/restrictions?
and biggest question of all - what's your budget?

There is nothing about those designs to separate them from the 1 million+ similar dome and cone direct radiator box speakers. Maybe the wood finish?
I would stay away, since the James site has this little gem:
"Then there is the matter of using sound meters to design a speaker. When Coombs designed his speaker units, he dispensed with "gimmicky" meters and did something rare...He used his ears and untold hours of trial and error...."
If true, the designer is obviously clueless and technically illiterate.

Stick with the Paradigm's, or better yet, for your reflective environment, try some speakers with controlled directional HF characteristics, like KEF, Tannoy, etc. or even the Behringer models (or something similar) sometimes mentioned here.

cheers,

AJ

Pretty big space you have there :D
Checkout SVS's MTS-01 Full size 5.1 channel system.
It's $3500 and comes in three different wood finishes.
It includes PB13-Ultra subwoofer which will kick James's sub behind :D

You have a lot of options here, but with so much glass/reflection getting great sound will be a big challenge.
Listing speaker at dealers/stores should give you a rough idea about speakers, but the best test is to bring them home and try them.
Luckily SVS (and few others) allows Free in Home 30 days trial.

P.S: I'm not sure if B&K 507 included automatic room correction - but if it does - it'll be you be friend ;)
