Newbie Need Help

I want to buy a receiver that will let my wife watch tv in 7.1 and i would like to listen to music on patio or garage ..I just have no idea what will work ......I am having a house built and have it prewired for speakers on patio and in the garage .. The prewire for all speakers comes into the built in cabinet in the living room ...

Most current receiver's offer the features you need. You'll also need a separate amp for the zoning since you want to run your HT in a 7.1 setup. You'll also want impedance matching volume controls wired in line with your garage and patio speakers. Budget and room size info will help for suggestions.
