I would like to buy a system for my husband. I am not really familiar with most of the problem which I can get with it. Can somebody give me advice if this system is really compatible?

Onkyo TX-NR807(already paid for)

E5Ti Tower Speakers
E5Bi Bookshelf Speakers
E5Ci Center Speaker

SVS PB10-NSD

We leave in the apartment building, so I think PB10-NSD will be more than enough. I just worry if receiver would not fry speakers because of too much power. Or if I miss something else important.

I want to order speakers today in order to get free shipping both ways just in case if something will go not very well.

Any help will be really appreciated. Happy New Year!!!

Welcome to the forum!

I'd say that system is compatible. You don't have to worry about the receiver having too much power. You won't fry the speakers with it. Nice choice with the subwoofer, too.

Onkyo receivers (among others) can get pretty hot when they are on, so make sure that you have adequate room around it for ventilation.

Thank you so much, I hope that receiver will have some options to make sure that speaker get correct amount of power.

No problem!

Also, the option that you're talking about is the volume control. :) That's not intended to sound sarcastic, but it probably did. I would bet that you will think that it is uncomfortably loud long before you risk damaging those speakers. I think that the 807 allows you to set a maximum volume...let me download the owner's manual and check that out. I'll be right back.

Yep, the Onkyo 807 allows you to set a maximum allowable volume if you decide to limit yourself.

The 807 should power the 6ohm, 87db sensitive speakers just fine. You will be crossing over to the sub which has it's own amp and will relieve the AVR.

I think you are good to go.

Absolutely also get a Auralex GRAMMA

As an owner of a SVS PB-10NSD (one great sub!) do yourself a huge favor order a sub-woofer isolation platform like the Auralex Gramma.

It will avoid irate neighbors  and a potential eviction  (just kidding) :D

Here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/Auralex-GRAMMA-Monitor-Isolation-Charcoal/dp/B0002D0B4U

It is only about $50 and will do two very important things;

1) It decouples the sub from your apartment structure, thereby limiting the sound propagated into your neighbor's apartments, and

2) It improves the sound quality of the sub in your room.

I cannot recomend it strongly enough, especially in a apartment application!
