I've got a budget of between $1,000 and $1500 for a solid system that will last me a good long while. My previous setup just went to goodwill and was a Sony HTIB that I bought back in 1996.

My current equipment is a Sony 60A3000 TV with a Direct TV HD DVR and a Sony BluRay player. (thinking about getting an XBox 360 too) Pretty simple setup, they're all just hooked together via HDMI and I'm using the speakers in the TV since I gave away my old HTIB. All of this is in a small room probably 15 x 10. Because of that I'm thinking a receiver, two tower speakers, a sub and maybe a center.

I want to get a receiver that can do solid HDMI switching for video and audio, I don't have a lot of patience when it comes to troubleshooting these things and if it gets more complicated than plugging some HDMI cables in and following the simple in-out logic I'll go play in traffic. I want nice full solid sound. I know that everyone has their own preferences, but I really am a newbie and probably couldn't hear the differences that you guys can.

I was checking out a Yamaha RX-V665 and Two Klipsch RF-52's or 62's. I also would like to get a nice solid sub and center channel. I was also looking at the onkyo SR607 as a possiblity

By no means assume I'm stuck on any of these items, I just went to BB and a local stereo store and was looking around. The sad truth is that I'll probably go out and buy what you guys suggest since I don't know a whole lot about the topic, so please any advice you have would be much appreciated. (I will do some followup research so I can compare your suggestions, but beyond that I wouldn't know what I'm looking at)

If you like the sound of the Klipsch, they are good for home theater. You might want to look into the Infinity Primus line. I've had them for about 3-4 years and they're pretty good for theater and are less expensive than the Klipsch. I think the Klipsch have them beat for home theater (I've owned Klipsch also), but not my that much. I'd go with a different brand of sub, because the Infinity PS212 is a little "muddy". If you don't listen to much music, you probably won't notice though. It will definately shake the walls if you want. I'm sure others will give more suggestions, but these are what I'm familiar with in your price range.

I'd take a look at this system:

Excellent sub and great speakers for a room that size. Add receiver and your other things and you will be good to go.

If you don't mind silver: http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=56954 That package is a steal at that price, but does not include sub.

The AH Store has an Infinity package for a good price too (also no sub): http://store.audioholics.com/product/2058/17/infinity-primus-theater-pack-ii-5-0-speaker-system

I'd go with a refurbished HK 254 from HK's eBay site (offer them $220 shipped). Can't be beat for the money and frees up funds for what counts which is speakers. An alternative is the Denon 1610/590 which can be had for $300.
