Dear Audioholics,

My family purchased a new home with speakers installed in the ceilings. There are 6 zones for 28 speakers and Russound volume control switches in the different rooms. All the wires come together in one place with these EZ connectors (from Google this appears to be Phoenix type 4 pole) that look like this:

My parents are afraid to let anyone in the house due to COVID. If there is a simple solution to get the speakers playing music, any guidance is greatly appreciated. The speakers can all come on together and the simpler the system, the better. Ideally it would be something like Sonos connected to minimal equipment. I am not sure if we can get just an amplifier or what I would need. I am happy to compensate a user with a simple working solution that says the specifics with $50 (Paypal, Venmo, Zelle). Please pretend I am a young child or a golden retriever when explaining what I need to buy.

You are luckier than most people posting questions like this, in that you still have the connectors on the speaker wire. I.e., at least you know what wires are actually connected to speakers somewhere.

Your best bet is to find an amplifier that accepts those connectors (it may require more than one to get everything working). Check Niles and Russound, and Home Theater Direct. You can also find other amps by searching 6-channel amplifier, 8-channel amplifier, etc.

After that it’s just a matter of getting a music source (i.e. component) to connect to the amplifiers.
