Newbie here - Suggest a A/V receiver for my HT setup

Hey guys,

I'm planning to go with Aperian Audio's 7.1 Verus Grand Tower XD package listed here - Verus Grand Tower XD - All Pre-Configured Systems - Home Theater Systems - Aperion Audio. I have no idea which amp I should get. I'm based in India and the amps available here are Denon, Marantz and Yamaha.

If you are suggesting an amp, please tell why.

The primary use of this system is for movies only. Itunes content, Blurays and DVDs will be the preferred source of media.

What is your budget? I would suggest Denon as you can utilize Audyssey room correction software.

All 3 brands are good to go.

I like Denon and Marantz because they allow Pure Direct and Direct 2.1 mode, while other brands only allow PD/D 2.0 modes.

Others like Marantz/ Denon because of the Audyssey room correction.

I haven't thought of a budget. I want the receiver to be the best suitable amp to my speakers setup. I'm thinking anywhere from $500-1500. I surely dont want additional capacity as I not upgrade this setup for atleast 10 years.

Yes, my bad! Today I learnt that receivers and amplifiers are different..

First of all, all three brands are generally quite good. So in a way, it will likely not be important which brand you go with. However, I would go with Yamaha, because they tend to be very reliable and competitively priced (at least in the U.S.). I recommend looking at their Aventage line, and make sure that you download the manual for whatever you are considering, to make sure it has all of the features you require.
