Quick easy question, but i am a dumb newbie so I thought I should ask on this forum:

I have this 19 year old receiver at home connected to some floor speakers as of this moment:

www.docs.sony.com/release/TAAV521.PDF

I just got this TV but the sound doesn't work (from the TV Speaker):

www.amazon.com/Samsung-LNT4071F-40-Inch-1080p-120Hz/dp/B000U9ZCQS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1318312019&sr=8-1

I assume to watch TV with sound, you just need to connect RCA cables between the two devices, then make sure the TV is on TV-input mode, correct?

But what about watching DVDs? There is no DVD or digital inputs in the old school receiver. If I plug my DVD player into the TV, and then plug the TV to my video-in on my receiver using RCA cables, then will the TV automatically play the DVD using my floor speakers, or do I need to do some setting on my TV?

Help!

Hi Newbie and welcome to the forum. Please refer to the forum rules to understand what is allowed. The posts you made that said "please ignore" is not a good way to get started here. They have been removed.

Now on to your question.:)

If you want to hear your sources through you tower speakers then each source (dvd, cable box, etc.) must each have the red/white analog connections to the receiver and the video directly to the TV. Then you much choose that input on the receiver to hear the sound. If you do not have a cable box and you are using an antenna you must use the audio outputs from the back of the TV to the receiver. You may need to go into the setup on the TV to turn on the output.
