i've been reading multiple articles on several websites, product manuals, in store associates and this has just added to my confusion. need some direction here and your assistance would be very appreciated. im wondering if anybody uses a guide other than product manuals to hook up there system and tune it for the best listening.

my main focus is music and but will be watching movies as well. i watched star wars episode 3 and it sounded great. this is only off my MA GR10's. But then again what do i know, im knew to this. But i definitely caught the bug and now its drving me crazy to do it right.

the room is about 14X20.

so far i've got:

42" PLasma- Panasonic TH-42PX60U
Pioneer receiver - VSX-1015TX
Sony DVD/CD HDMI (dont know model off top of my head)
1 pair of Monitor Audio - GR10's

how its hooked up:

my dvd/cd is hooked up via HMDI cable to the tv. then i've got 1 audioquest digital audio cable (copperhead) running from dvd to reveiver. currently not viewing televison but HD satellite is on the way. what other equipment and cables do i need to maximize performance? Searching for the right SUB too.

JEEZ...sorry its so long.....just too many questions...

thanks

New HT

Sounds like your HT is off to a good start. Your current HDMI and digital audio connection should be adequate for the DVD player. For the digital cable, plan on another HDMI or a component video cable to TV and a digital coax or optical for the audio to the receiver.

Don't waste money on the Audioquest cables as there are plenty of lower priced, quality alternatives from bluejeans cables, impact acoustics, and others. Audioquest also subscribes to voodoo like batteries on cables.

A good 12" sub should work well in your room. Check out the online options from SVS, HSU, and AV123.com. If you'd rather stick with a local dealer than look for velodyne. Once you have the sub hooked up (with digital coax cable from the receiver) then add the center channel and surrounds next.

thanks for sympilfying the process a bit. i bought audioquest only because they are on clearance at Best Buy stores that have the Magnolia Audio/Video centers. there still good cables right?

theres an MA ASW110 subwoofer on Audiogon for $279. deal or no deal? all i hear is Velodyne and HSU recommendations.

appreciate you feedback...more questions to come

The audioquest cables are fine, just expensive.
Not familiar with that sub, but Audiogon is a good site for high end slightly used gear.
