Hi:

I'm a newbie to the world of pro-audio. I'm trying to finalize on a basic setup. I'm tight on my budget of $1000 and so I've chosen my setup accordingly. I needed comments / suggestions from the experts on this forum.

Setup I plan to go for:

-> Extensively modified BIC 62si by Ed Frias
-> JBL ES250PBK 400 Watt Powered 12" Subwoofer
-> Sherwood RD-7502 receiver www . sherwoodamerica . com /site/sherwood/receiver/RD7502. html

I've discussed this with Ed himself (and I'm really happy he so approachable), and I'm happy with the selection of the Speakers and Sub, but I'm still not settled in my mind with the receiver. Being a newbie there are a lot of questions still popping up in my head:

1) Has anyone had the RD-7502 receiver with these speakers? They output 100 wpc. I read at some places that an Onkyo / Denon would be better because Sherwood is an old company.

2) Does the RD-7502 receiver handle 4 ohms? In general, how can I know if a receiver handles 8 / 6 / 4 ohms?

3) I've read on some threads about suggestion to go in for a vintage / used receiver. Is this a good choice? Will a 10 or 20 yr old receiver perform well? What about newer connections like HDMI, etc? Is there are way to get around this with vintage receivers?

4) If you have the BICs, what receivers do you use? Do you recommend any surround receivers in a similar price range?

5) I'm a mostly Pop/Rock listener and do sometimes indulge myself in Jazz and Classical also. Is the current setup a good choice given that?

Thanks for your time, patience and help!!!
