I just bought a house and I want to get my first real sound system. My living room is about 20ft by 14ft and opens to the dining room 10ft by 22ft. It is a very open floor plan so the opening between these rooms is rather large, about 12 ft. I will set up my couch about 10-12ft from the tv and will use the speakers for mainly movies(80%). I have done some research and I am planning on buying the definative technology procinema 1000 speakers for the fronts, the definative procinema 800 speakers for the rears, the definative technology procenter 2000 for the center and the SVS PB12 NSD subwoofer. First, is this a good sound system for my room size, keep in mind I don't want to spend more than 2200 for the speakers and receiver? If you have any other ideas with similar size speakers (the wife doesn't want huge speakers) please let me know. Also, what receiver should I get for this system? i appreciate any help you can give me.
