I just bought an Onkyo SR-800 HT, i tought that the HDMI inputs were intended to be to connect HDMI devices for the sound, but the manual says it is only a pass through connection, wich means that i can't use it to send the sound to the HT.
I want to connect my HT to a PS3 to play bluray discs, but my PS3 only shows support for 7.1 sound by using the HDMI connection (which i said doesn't send the sound from the PS3 to the HT), so i actually just have the optical fiber option to connect the sound but the PS3 only accepts stereo sound (in PCM) by using that kind of connection or 5.1 (DTS), my question is, is there a way to use my HT for 7.1 with PS3? or i have no other option than 5.1 DTS
