hello everyone, im trying to figure out what interconnects and speaker wire to use with my set up. i have a denon avr 5800, a pioneer dvl-90, and a pioneer bdp-51fd. for speakers i have a set of definitive technology bp-10's for the front, and a set of bpx's for the rear. for subs i am running 2 definitive technology pf 1500's. i picked up 2 sets of monsters m1000 sub 12 ft cables, i also picked up a pair of monsters z2 10 ft cables for the front speakers. my questions for you guys is which series should i run for digital coax connections. would the thx ultra 1000 series be fine or should i go for the m1000 series there as well? also what speaker wire do you recommend that i run for the rear speakers, thanks for the help.

Do a search on 'Monster'.

I don't think there's anything wrong with their products except the price. If you really have it, use it. If you're looking to buy cables, buy BJC (advertised in banner at top of page). Monoprice gets recommended a lot around here but they've had a little trouble being hacked lately. BJC also has articles to read about cables and so does the home page of Audioholics under A/V University. It's all pretty much been spelled out and can be read about.

So you've got all the help and advice you could ever need and your question about Monster answered if you'll just do some reading ... enjoy the site.

No, Monster is not real popular around here. My recommendation is to go with Bluejeans. There is absolutely no reason to buy expensive speaker wire and there is nothing special about Monster's interconnects. In fact, I compared Monster's component video cables to Bluejeans years back and Bluejeans outperformed Monster at 1/3 the cost. Bluejeans analog interconnects maybe aren't as flashy looking, but they are easily some of the best cables I've used. Monster is a complete and total waste of money.

Right here in this forum is one example of why you shouldn't buy Monster:http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50142
