So we are remolding our home and have a little budget for a new tv/audio setup. So, I need some advice on the following:
1) Looking at the Sony HX750 55" inch LED tv to hang above our gas fireplace. I haven't picked out a receiver yet so any suggestions are welcome?
2) Looking at compact speakers for 5.1 surround sound. I like the Cambridge Audio Minx system but not sure my budget is for more $1k. So, is the low end Minx system ok - like the S215? Or go with another compact speaker system like Orb Audio People's Choice System?
3) I want to hide all my equipment so looking for a IR repeater but have to wire that across my room - 20 ft away. I've seen these devices like the Nyrius Aries NAVS500 which looks like it sends an HD signal for up to 5 HD devices wirelessly across a room. Is that right? Or what's the best solution to hide a cable box, receiver, blue-ray player, etc in a closet 20 ft away from the tv?
4) Would like to setup my Mac as a DVR but I think I can figure that out via the internet. I think I would get a 3 TB external HDD for the extra capacity since they're only $100 these days.
As you can tell, I'm a newb so any adivce/feedback would be greatly appreciated!!! TIA.
