Hey Guys

I have a question regarding my surround sound which i hoped i might be able to get some pointers on.

My TV has the usual red/white anologue audio inserts, as well as 3 pr/pb/YV inserts.

Because i've just moved house, i only have a logitex X-50 (5 speakers into a central power unit/sub woofer) to put me on with till i settle and get something more decent put in.

This system is mainly meant for gaming - so i guess i'd like to know how would i be able to link this to my TV given that the 3 male outputs are really meant for a pc - is there some kind of adapter i can use to convert this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

moving on from that - can anyone recommend a good system for a budget of £500?

HT system

You need a receiver to take the digital audio signal from the DVD player or other source and drive the speakers. If you wanted to use a temporaty computer setup, you could adapt from Red/White analog outputs on the TV to the 1/4" mini jack on the computer speakers for a temporary 2.0 or 2.1 system. I doubt that this would be much better than the TV speakers.

Not sure where you are located or what brands are avaialble but in the $500 USD range I would start with an entry level HT receiver and a nice pair of bookshelf speakers vs. a cheap HTIB system.
