Opening up my new V2400

Special insert separate from manual describes how to use Dolby Pro Logic IIx

Front panel has a sticker saying that the unit is software upgradable via its RS-232 port - I knew there was a reason to get the V2400 over the V1400

I've answered my question from another post about whether the Audigy sound card can send multi-channel output digitally to the Yamaha. In a word, no. It will only send 2 channels digitially. They show up on the receiver as PCM at 48khz - apparently the Audigy up-converts my 44.1 khz WMA files to 48 khz.

Does the SPDIF spec allow for sending more than 2 PCM channels?

SoftEng.

Did the sticker say anything about how to upgrade the software. I also have the 2400, but it is not upgraded for DPL IIx. I don't recall seeing a sticker.

I don't have any info about how to upgrade via the RS-232 port. You probably will have to send your unit back to Yamaha to get DPL IIx.

You can definitely send 5.1 from the Audigy to your receiver via digital coax, assuming the source and the playback software support it. You may have a setup problem.

Sorry for the confusion, I was speaking of PCM digital not Dolby Digital.
