new yamaha receiver zone 2&3 question

Bought new rx-v1800 as a start to upgrade my system. Everything works well with sharp 37 inch hdtv & sony dvd , non blue-ray. I just can't seem to get volume on zone 2&3 the more I read the manual the more confused I get; can anyone explain in simple english I use to have a B speaker set up with a speaker splitter. Are you getting sound at all or none? There is usually a separate volume adjustment for the zones vs the main volume control.

speaker zone problem

still no sound out of either zone both zones are set & light on receiver shows them on and rear speakers do shut down when both zones are on as they are surpose to;tried setting volume on receiver & remote nothing. I called yamaha and have to call them monday and they will walk me through it via phone thanks waxey PS I'm an older guy whose first audio source was a hand crank victrola things sure have changed
