I did a search on Google and got a whole bunch of European websites. Perhaps these are for the European market?

Well, JandR is American as apple pie. If Goggle has so little to report, it may just be that the marketing of this model is very recent, and slighly ahead, in Europe.

I live in France: the RX-V750 has been actively selling, here and in Germany, for some time.

I saw the RX-V757 announced by some German on-line stores just a couple of days ago. There must be some difference, or is it just a model-number change to keep the marketing machine humming?

On the JandR page one can read, about the RX-V757: "XM satellite radio ready". I don't really know what that is.

J&R is also pre-advertising the HTR-58xx series (current version is 57xx)

From the write-up the RX-V757 looks identical to the RX-V750 (which I own), except for the addition of XM satellite radio capability. You of course have to subscribe to XM to get it. What perhaps remains to be seen is if Yamaha comes out with another variation of this that has Sirius satellite radio capability, or if they have an exclusive deal just with XM. Most car companies have done exclusive deals with one or the other. Audi is one exception to this, you can get either version (XM or Sirius, but not both at the same time), as an optional upgrade car receiver. I have never seen a single receiver unit (either for cars, or a portable) that supports both satellite services simultaneously, but perhaps it is just a matter of time before dual-service units become available. I don't know enough about the signal format to know if there would be a little, or a lot, of circuit commonality between an XM and a Sirius receiver.

The other thing I don't know is whether a subscription to XM or Sirius applies to just one receiver (either a auto unit, a portable unit, or a home receiver), or whether an individual can cover multiple pieces of hardware with a single subscription. I am thinking it MIGHT be on a per-receiver basis, but it also seems reasonable for one person to want the capability both at home and in one or more cars, without having to move a portable receiver around.

Should one expect "newer" versions of the RX-V2500 and RX-V1500?
I've been looking around for a new receiver and really like the RX-V2500, except for the fact that it doesn’t come with iLink connectivity ... yet.

I contacted Yamaha to ask when (if) iLink would be available on the 2500. Their response: “not at the present time, but maybe next year when we replace the RX-V2500". I don’t like paying waiting games so I’ve moved on to other options.
