...And a few questions.
First- here is my set up:
Integrated amp: Ayre AX-7E
Turntable: Pro-Ject RPM 5.1
DAC: BelCanto 1.5
Phone stage: Moon 110LP
Speakers: Vienna Acoustic Mozart Grand Symphony SE
Room: (here is part of the issue)
15x15
Wall opposite speakers is mirrored.
Wall to right of speakers is glass floor to ceiling.
No rug.
Issues:
1) I feel like the room is causing less than "wow" sound quality in the highs and mids. Low end is GREAT. I assume most opinions here would be to treat the room then worry about the rest of these issues....
2) Often feel like I cant get enough volume while playing vinyl. Amp is nearly at max to get it "loud". Never an issue with cd/digital.
3) when playing digital from MacBook pro via USB through BelCanto DAC (output set to fixed (vs variable) @ about 92.0 (out of 100)) there is sometimes a hiss that is audible during playback. Obviously this seems like a "pre/post" balance issue but the manual suggests fixed at 100 so I'm already compromising at 92... Thoughts?
Lastly- any general advice on speaker placement is welcome. I have them approx. 7' apart, on either side of a fireplace. Slight toe-in. Speakers are about 12' away from my listening position.
