I have just purchased the Samsung LN-S4051D
Connected to the TV are Xbox 360, ps2, DVD player soon to be replaced with the oppo DV-981hd
Now on the audio side of things I have a Pioneer sx-2900 receiver, Pioneer pd-m501 6 disk changer and the speakers are KLH av-4001 (these components are old school, at least 10 years old)

I was looking to upgrade now that I have the new TV. I was initially looking to some of the home theaters in a box but then I found the audioholics web site. I was planning on spending $1000-1500 but im not sure I can get what I want for that price range.
Due to the size of the room I was thinking a 2.1 or a 5.1 system. also due to the fact that it is on the second floor I dont have the option to put the speaker wire under the floor so is there another way to get the speaker wires to the back of the room with out having to go through the walls or have the wire run along the walls? i would also like room to expand in the feature. as for a receiver and speakers im not sure what to get for this price range.
i have looked at just about every brand recommend by audiohoics regarding speakers, receivers, DVD and im lost.
budget: speakers $500-900 receiver $500-900

also i was just wanted to know if it is possible to just do a front left, center right and sub set up and if so will it sound good?

You are going to have to run wires in your walls and attic, under your carpet or under your baseboards; just no way around that. It is not very hard, just set your mind to it and do it.

If I were you, I would start by getting ~$1000 "main" speakers and a ~$500 AVR and add the center then the sub and then the surrounds as money allows.

If you want to get it all at once you can get something like the SVS 5.1 and add the AVR which should be within your budget.

If you go with option 1 you will end up with a better system.

i think what i may do is get a good reviever use the stuff i have now and when i have hte money start to buy the left center and right speakers then add the others later.

also would my current set up allow for me to add the sub or would this not be a good idea?

Regarding your other thread, I have a Denon AVR-686 and DVD-556 as a secondary system, just an older version of what your looking at. I think they are both decent units. The AVR does have subwoofer output with variable crossover settings, so that's good. I don' know about the Boston Acoustics package, but you should see if you can demo it for yourself and see if you like it.

I second this recommendation.
