I'm wanting to custom build a bed frame that has a pseudo cinema built into it. From what I'm reading, this is a terrible, terrible idea. It seems like just about everything you'd do with a bed frame is terrible from the perspective of a sound system. The only nice thing I can think of is that the mattress would do a lovely job at absorbing things.
I was hoping to do a 7.2 system. One sub in the front, one in the head board. I was looking at pinnacle speakers for my brand. From what I've read, they do amazing at the price point, have an excellent performance per dollar ratio, and you can often find them for less then they are asking for. I have a full size bed, would be making everything out of solid wood (Do certain woods work better for sound absorption? Balsa could even be an option if I went thicker with the walls I guess.....
Speakers I was looking at are as follows:
Main:
S-FIT TWR 1050
Center:
BD 300 Center Channel
Side and rear satellites:
BD 500 Bookshelf
Subs:
Baby Boomer Powered Sub
Bed frame dimensions, so we know all the fun stuff that's being worked with:
Actual frame: L/W/H = 75X54X24, with 12 drawers underneath
Nothing headboard/foot board has been determined yet, I figured acoustic properties and speaker placement would matter a lot for this.
TV presently in use, which may change: LG 55LM4600
Is this a bad idea to try out? Are there things in my plans that are just plain wrong, or going to be hard to compensate for? I'd love to give specific room dimensions, which I can do now, but I'm going to be moving from where I am now, to another house, then I'll be buying a place to live, all within this year, so I can't really give specifics. I'd prefer to start buying/preparing things to enjoy for now, and have the final project done and completed for the final move, not wait a few months into my move to have things mostly ready. I know that settling in will present specific room challenges, but those can't be tackled until you have your system in your room either.
