Hello, I'm new to the forum so I will do my best to explain my situation and ask my question. I have BOSE 601 series, 4 speakers that I had since 2004 and I'm starting to wonder am I wasting my time with these speakers? I was much younger back then and I didn't know better as I believed that BOSE produced speakers that sounded great and made with great quality. I become concerned when I hear that the speakers that I own are overrated, overpriced, and hated by most audiophiles. I like to replace these speakers with ones that are well built and great for music and movies without breaking the bank. I know bose pride themselves on direct reflecting technology, but now I'm starting to wonder is this something that is useful or is it just marketing fluff? All I want are speakers that are true to their claims and not overrated, overpriced, and inefficient. Any suggestions and what should I do with my 601 speakers? Please help. Thanks

There are a lot of accurate speakers out there. What is your budget? Any size restrictions? As for the 601s, sell them.

Why four of them....two rooms or an old quadraphonic setup?

Hey, if you like the speakers nothing wrong with them particularly but as for their technology, the reflecting thing can work well enough from my memories of some very deliberately setup 901s in dedicated rooms back in the old days. Still doesn't make me want to own any, though. There's so many other choices out there and the Bose brand doesn't even enter my mind.

ps Not only need a budget but also how you plan to use them with what gear in what room....
