New to the forum and need some recommendations/reviews

We just purchased an LG 47LH90 Led/Lcd and the LG BD390 Blu Ray. Also have an older Sony SLV-D100 DVD/VCR combo (used now for just Cassettes). The old receiver is a Pioneer VSX-D710S. Too old to even be useful now!!!!!
I am looking at the Sony 7.1 STR-DH700, 7.1 STR-DH800.....Pioneer 5.1 VSX-819H-K.....Will the difference in the 7.1/5.1 even be noticeable? I really want to stay around the </> $250. Any other recommendations?
Down the road we may get a Direct TV subscription, MAY.....I would appreciate any info/ideas/recommendations.....

The difference is 7.1 receivers can power 7 speakers and 5.1 receivers can power 5 speakers. Are you planning on setting up a 7-channel surround?

As to whether you *should* set up 7 speakers: that's up to you but generally they offer good benefit in large, well-designed listening environments; and little to none in smaller rooms.

Had no idea that was what was meant...

I have 2 rear, 2 front, 1 center and a sub-woofer.....I guess that means I better go with the/a 7.1, correct.....Any recommendations.....at the price.
