I have been using my Denon 3803 as a processor for my Cinenova Grande 5 Amp. Recently, I replaced the receiver with Parasound Halo C2 controler. This controler has 12 v trigger which can be used to turn on the Amp. However,my Cinenova Grande does not have the regular input for the trigger. Accordding to its manual, this amp has a 25 pins which requires RCA(?) connector that can be used with the 12 v trigger to turn it on. My questions are as follow: a-where can I buy such RCA connector? b-How do I connect it to the 12v trigger output of the C2 controller? Is there anything that needs to be programmed? Or do I just connect them togetter? Any reply is greatly appreciated.

......LostForever, use your compass, and my condolances for your having to barely cripple by concerning equipment....there's probably little experience here with the Cinenova Grande 5 Amp.....

.....you guys don't like to turn on the amps manually, and watch the scan-light LED's flicker?.....

.....edit....sorry, Welcome, LostForever.....

What does the amps connector look like? What does the receivers connector look like? Mini headphone type?
25-pins sounds more like a parallel port type DB connector. If you know what type of connections you are looking for, you can probably buy/build a cable with the appropriate parts from Radio Shack.

Here ya' go. I happened to have the pin out (untested). Looks like you are after pin 11 & 23. I think this uses the big old rs-232 connector plug. You can pick one up at radio shack.

Pin # 1 (+ left rear audio input)
Pin # 14 (-left rear audio input)
Pin # 2 (+ left front audio input)
Pin # 15 (-left front audio input)
Pin # 3 (+ center audio input)
Pin # 16 (-center audio input)
Pin # 5 (+ right front audio input)
Pin # 18 (-right front audio input)
Pin # 6 (+ right rear audio input)
Pin # 19 (-right rear audio input)
Pin # 11 (+12VDC remote trigger -turn on)
Pin # 23 (-remote trigger -turn on)

Edit PS.. You will also need to pick up some solder and a solder iron while you are in the shack. They are not going to have a pre-made connector for this. YOu just gotta make the plug then connect the amp and your pre/pro together. You might have to switch some settings in your pre/pro to cause it to toggle that external amp signal. That should be the limit to "programming".

My LEDs never flickered once at 3 dB *above* reference level
when watching "war of the worlds" the other night :)

I haven't used the 12 volt trigger but only connect the RCA outputs from
my Denon to the RCA inputs of the Cinenova Grande 3 ...

Hi everyone,
Thanks for replying.
Mulester7,
Thanks... By the way, who really wants to manually turn on the amp, when one push of button, and dada, everything turns on? I have been living with "Manually turn on the amp" for some times now. It is time to try to get it to do some extra work to make up for all the $$$ I spent on this wonderful amp. The on/off switch on this amp probably was "Made in Chine" and is very flimsy. The amp itself has 10/5 years part and labor warranty. I just hate to send the 130+lbs amp in for service; just to have the switch fixed. The shipping costs will be huge. With little extra works up front, I can ensure long quality times of enjoyment.

Eric,
Where can I find out more information? Earthquake Sound's web site is no help.

Jc Panny,
According to Cinenova's manual, most electronic stores carry the connector. I just do not know what to ask for.

Tdeluce,
My Grande 5 is the old model (2000), and does not have RCA connector. Only 25 pins connector.

Post a picture of the connector . . .

And we will tell you what to ask for.

Parallel 25-pin connector (5-channel amplifier)

The 25-pin parallel connector houses five RCA inputs and a remote turn-on trigger. This connector is standard, and can be purchased from your dealer or any electronics store. It is configured as follow:
Pin # 1 (+ left rear audio input)
Pin # 14 (-left rear audio input)
Pin # 2 (+ left front audio input)
Pin # 15 (-left front audio input)
Pin # 3 (+ center audio input)
Pin # 16 (-center audio input)
Pin # 5 (+ right front audio input)
Pin # 18 (-right front audio input)
Pin # 6 (+ right rear audio input)
Pin # 19 (-right rear audio input)
Pin # 11 (+12VDC remote trigger -turn on)
Pin # 23 (-remote trigger -turn on)

Hope I have done it right.
The connector is located on the upper right hand side.

At this point, you need to buy the 25 pin connector at radio shack and 5 rca cable ends along with the connector to the component that will supply the amp turn on signal.

I think it is a DB25 connector, and that's what you need to ask for at the shack. Take a look at the connector on the amp if you see pins, you need a female connector. If you see holes, you need a male connector.

You will also need 6 lengths of thin co-ax (like microphone cable) to solder to the db25 connector. If the pin out diagram does not make any sense to you, you might want to call the amp mfg. to see what they can sell to you cable wise. Or, you might find some local A/V shop that can build one for you.

There is a small chance you could fry something (like a speaker or amp module) by hooking the +12 turn on signal into one of the channel inputs. So if you don't trust your ability, better to back off and get some local help.

.....TDeluce, kudos to your Earthquake sub-station, haha.....I was referring to clicking the K2 amp on and watching the systems-check flickers of the LED's....and, TDeluce, mule may be getting something for Christmas his own self.....

Eric,
Thanks the info.
But I am totally lost, as my call sign implies. I wil stop by RadioShake to buy the connector, then will see from there. Hopefully, it is not as hard as it sounds. Will keep you guy posted.
Still Lostforever.

Congratulations - I suspect the five channel version?
