Hi, I'm a recent convert from 2 channel to HT. While I still have a separate 2-channel setup, I pieced together a basic HT set up a few months ago from items I took from past 2 channel systems or items I've found relatively cheap. Now I'm learning more and looking to upgrade. I'm currently using a Technics SH-AC500D / Adcom GSA-700 with some old Haflers amps along with NHTs (2.5, 1.3, VT-1C). I'm picking up an Outlaw 950 pre/pro and would like opinions on amps to use with the Outlaw and NHTs.

I'm still in early learning mode for HT so any suggestions/opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Price range?

For 5.1, you could look at the Outlaw 755. Should be enough power for most speakers, including the NHTs, at 200wpc. They are supposed to be releasing the 7125 soon for a little less, which is 7x125, so you'd just have the extra 2 channels left over to use in the future or possibly to bi-amp your mains.

Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion on the Outlaw Amps. I'd like to stay $<1000 used. I'll check into the Outlaw Amps. The Adcom pre/pro amp section seems somewhat bright for multi channel music, but good for movies - not bad for the $100 there going for, but I've had to spend some time balancing it with the Hafler 220 I run for the mains. Tried some B&K amps from my 2 channel just to see how it sounds and movies were a little warm for my taste - maybe I got too used to the Adcom :). I like the Haflers I'm using now, just want a little more headroom and multichannel if possible so I'm not running 3-4 amps, and trying to balance them.

Thanks!
