New to Home theater

I have a budget of around $1100 to spend on a surround system and would like 7.1. Any suggestions?
Also I'd like to spend around $300 for a receiver, or should i spend more on a receiver if im spending that much on speakers? Recommendations on a receiver?

It's so funny you mention that - I showed two women I know pics of my 2030P speakers and both of them thought they looked good. Maybe they were just trying to not hurt my feelings

Or maybe they assumed like most people that you just removed the grills for the pics, but that they came with grills. And in their minds, they picture those speakers with black grills on.

I told them they didn't have grills! They're just too cool for WAF issues

It is very bad for anyone with small children, unless the speakers are mounted too high for the children to reach the speakers. Enough adults bump into things to make it something that should cause some hesitation in many households.
