Hey all- I'm budgeting around $4,000 for a home theater setup... and I've got a dark room... so, I was thinking front projection was the way to go-the display will be used mostly for gaming, video watching, and some occassional TV watching... I'd like to keep the screen around 85-95 inches if possible... I don't have a sound system, screen, projector or anything yet... any advice would totally rock!

Thanks

Sounds like a good play.

I'm not much help on the video side, but for getting a solid audio system answering a couple questions would make it easier to make the best suggestions for you.

What are the dimensions of the dark room?
Do you have any size/weight/height/footprint restrictions on the sub or any speakers?
How loud do you prefer to play movies... moderate, moderate loud, loud, or very loud with room-shaking special effects?
Are you needing a BluRay within the budget?

The first thing you do is go and get a solid 1080p projector...

http://store.benq.us/benq-us/product.aspx?sku=3802088&culture=en-US

Then you add a 100" screen (get Brilliant White material)...

http://www.carada.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=PROJECTION-SCREEN-H100C

Then you figure out the best audio you can add to that for about $2,000.

I'm not going to tell you what to buy on the audio side, but on the video side, that BenQ is going to be an EXTREMELY short lived deal, and the Carada screens can't really be touched for overall quality for the money.

Pick up your cabling from BlueJeansCable.com or Monoprice.com

Call it a theater! :D
