Hi,

I will just introduce my self.. i am new to the home theatre world.. just building my first house with a new home theatre! Read alot on here and think i have come with best solutions for my budget.

I have attached my floor plan for some assistance.

Home theatre size is 4.8 x 3.68. Not big but not too bad either. We will have soundchek internal walls and solid core doors to reduce noise leak.

Wife wants wall mount speakers as they look nicer.. however, i watch alot of poop and i prefer proper speakers.

Klipsch RP-280F Floor Speakers
Klipsch R-112SW 12" Subwoofer
Marantz SR7011 9.2 AV Surround Receiver
Epson EH TW9300 Projector
RP-440C Reference Premier Centre Speaker

Questions i have.. with the size of the room.. and to please the wife.. will i be able to add a false wall and hide them behind the projector screen? what do i do with the rears.. do people just have floor speakers there or just get the fronts behind the screen and rear ceiling speakers?

With the space in the room.. do i have room to add a second tier to put additional seats behind? i read a bit online that may room may not have the room.. especially with the false wall taking up 0.6-1 metre.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Pete

Pull the grill covers off the speakers and just set them behind acoustically transparent cloth. The center can either be tilted up from under the screen, or get an acoustically transparent screen.

If you are using projection, I don't think you have room for a second row - the faux wall takes 1m, leaving 3.8m. I think the THX screen vs distance ratio is 1.2-1.6.

I sit 4m from a 2.5m diagonal screen= 1.6. That has me moving my eyes to see some things, but not my head. Some people like that huge image, that's up to you!

If using acoustically transparent screen, then you don't need a horizontal center speaker.
Just use one more tower/bookshelf speaker identical to left/right - this is best way to go. Horizontal center speakers are compromise then you can't do AT screen.
Sub wise - you could do much better. Probably worth a separate thread, but it also depends on your location.
Given your measurements provided in metric, I think it's safe to assume you're not in US (likely to be Canada, I think) - you're option are more limited and/or expensive.

As for speakers themselves, if you're in Canada, I'd look for lower-mid tier offerings from PSB

Personal experience with Klipsch. Get the best towers you can (or cannot) afford. I have four of the 12’ subs and those are ok but go with a better tower or the Heresy IIIs. Never, ever compromise on the mains as you’ll listen to two channel music as too. “ Boy, I hate these top-shelf main speakers”... said no one ever!

Hey, Pete,

Those towers are a fantastic choice!

For sub, the Klipsch 15" will get you more deep impact. A second sub will have potential benefits, but get the one 15" now, and see how that works, instead of the one 12"

Everything else is fantastic.

Call Cory at Paducah Home Theater and ask for a quote on what you need. Best prices by far.

Thanks guys for the feedback.

I am in Sydney (we get ripped off down here with prices so unfortunately getting more expensive speakers isnt a viable option for me :( The other option which is similar priced are the Bowers & Wilkins CM8 Speakers or Wharfedale Diamond 157 Speakers. I have not heard the last two as yet.. but was really impressed by the Klipsch range.

I spoke with a local home theatre place and they advised as mentioned above that the room may be a little small for a false wall.

What could i get if i were to choose in wall speakers and ceiling speakers? i know it sacrifices a little quality but it would enable me to have a larger room. What model in walls would you recommend? Paradigm?

Was looking at these.. i heard them and they were nice but no way near as nice as the Klipsch speakers.

Main Speakers Paradigm Pro P65IW In-Wall Speakers
Centre Speaker Paradigm Pro P65IW In-Wall Speaker
Side Speakers Paradigm Home H65R In-Ceiling Speakers

Paradigm in-walls are pretty good. If that's your best option locally, I'd say go with them. I am not a Klipsch fan, but if you liked them then they should work too. I'd say I'd prefer the Klipsch over Paradigm if it means not going in-wall.

Interesting to say the least. I live about 2-hours from Paducah. Next time that I am down that way, I will be sure to check them out! Thanks Grant for the info! :):):)
