I am having trouble with a magnetic interference from my pioneer receiver showing in my CRT 34inch wide t.v. various severity when I turn receiver off and back on. I am really starting to wonder if there is something I can do to resolve this problem. HELP!!:(

Has it always been like this or is it a recent occurance?

Not to state the obvious but if it's a new install, then you're gonna have to move it. Just like speakers, receivers, and any electronic component for that matter, sends our magnetic waves.

Thanks guys

I realize that is the ideal solution but it is an in wall set up and have nowhere to go with it. I may have to cut into the wall above to make more room. I was hoping to not have too. I thought maybe there was a way to divide the two shelves in to differant megnetic fields.(via static mat or some thing like it.) If somebody has an idea of how to do that. It would save me a lot of work.

Well, good luck to ya.

But, in the future, remember the old addage "measure twice, cut once".

I would think the magnetic interference from a power supply would be very week. I think they make shielding for that, but I have no idea what it looks like or where to find it on the net.

Shielding TV

You might consider cutting a piece of sheet metal and setting it on the shelf between the TV and the Receiver. Also verify that the receiver is in fact the source of the noise and not the speakers or another component.

Thanks to everbody.

I thank everyone that tried to help. I think I have now resolved the problem. Bought Pioneer receiver on boxing day and today future shop was willing to let me exchange and try a Yamaha HTR5960 receiver. The new Yamaha doesn't seem to have the same effect on my TV. They even tried holding it up in front of the CRT tv on the sales floor. Had no effect even in contact with the screen. I think there had to be something wrong with the Pioneer I had.:)

That is very possible.
