New Tags System

I'm loving the new tags system on the forums.....it allows me to anonymously add a bit of color to the thread without having to troll.

the tags on this one are hilarious as well.

but personally, i'd like the tag associated with the user who posted it to add a bit more responsibility.

If the tags system gets abused we'll remove it. Honestly, I think it probabaly needs to be limited to mods and admin anyway...

There's an 'edit tags' button under the 'post reply' button at the bottom of the page and you can add some sort of text there. I guess it should reflect the content of the thread. I have found them to be pretty funny so far but aside from that I'm not sure what they are good for or how they would be of use. I'm sure that there is something search related or cut and paste application where they would be useful but this is my first go round with them.

Anyway, that's all I know.

Edit: Oh, I guess that's over now. Dang, that was the best part of this make over.

I think if it hadn't been used in threads to note that someone was a newb or troll we could have kept using it, unless there was something worse going on that I wasn't around to see before it got shut down.

One of the changes that could have been made is a tag to go along with reputation left by other users since so many of them prefer to anonymously trash rep, often completely unfounded.

Any particular reason there's no info on the chicklet system in a sticky or FAQ? I'm familiar with it due to other forums, but it would undoubtedly be beneficial to new members of the site...unless the admins enjoy keeping a shroud of mystery around them, which I suspect.

I don't know why things are the way they are but I just remembered that I started a thread on the whole 'gimme sugar' theme. Some very important discoveries were made there ... life changing.
