New Surround System

I've been shopping for a home theater system.

The TV will be the Samsung 56" DLP HDTV (the one with the new chip coming out in July).

Good Guys are suggesting 4 Monitor Audio Radius Surround Speakers, 1 Monitor Audio Radius Front Speaker, Velodyne sub woofer and Yamaha RXV 2400 Reciever.

Magnolia HiFi is suggesting 4 Def Tech Pro Sat 100 Speakers, 1 Def Tech Pro Center 200 Speaker, Def Tech Prosub 100 sub woofer and Denon AVR 3805 receiver.

'm having a hard time decidinig since I know little about either of the speakers manufactures. Both seem like pretty good systems. Any thoughts?

Don't go by suggestions. They are only a starting point. Listen for yourself and pick the speakers you like best. Simple as that. You can't go wrong with either receiver by the way.

Definitely go listen to more speakers. Every speaker is different and onyl your ears will let you know which one is right for you. Don't let someone tell you "This is the speaker you need".

Thanks for the comments Shinerman. Actually, the speakers are what we selected after listening to 3-4 systems, from each place. Part of my requeiments are that they be small enough to fit my bookshelves, both do. I don't want them to be a dominating item in my living room. The Monitor Audio look nicer and both seem to sound very good. The monitors are about $600 more than the Def Tech's. I'm not familiar with either brand and I don't know anyone who has either.
