Long time reader first time poster. You guys have been a great source of information for me the last couple years in setting up my home theater, THANK YOU. To get to my question, I just got two new MFW 15 subsand I want to flatten the response out and add a house curve. So I am looking at a few alternatives. The Behringer 1124, DCX2496, or DEQ2496. I am looking at the DCX and DEQ so that in the future I can add an amp for my front L/R/C speakers. I havent been able to figure out if the DEQ will fit this need as well as the DCX or if I should go with the 1124 for now and then add a DCX or DEQ in the future when I get an amp.

Oh this is what I have for equipment ATM.
Yamaha RX-V663
Paradigm Monitor 11v4
Paradigm CC300 (modified with a tweeter to match the Monitor 11v4's)
Yamaha Surrounds
PS3

Thanks

I would think you would be able to get away with the 1124, or the SMS-1 depending on where your subs are in room.

Have you done any type of frequ response testing in your room yet?

I have done some with REW but Im not sure how to attach them here. I also have a room layout but not sure how to show that either. Both subs are at the front of the room. I tried several different placements and found the ones I like best and llok the best using REW. I have done some testing by hand with test tones I downloaded too. Whats odd is the test tone measurements showed a big dip at 50 hz and another minor dip at 80 hz and REW showed a big dip at 48 hz (which makes sense) and another minor dip at 28 hz. The 28 hz dip didnt show at all in the test tone measurements. They both show a spike at about 70 hz.
If I go with the 1124, won't I have to buy a DCX or DEQ once I get an amp for the front 3?

Im not sure I get what your trying to do here...

Are you trying to find an eq for your subs first, and then down the road get an EQ for your front 3...?

For your dual subs, you easily could use the DCX or the 1124.... Both are fine products for this purpose, though the DCX is a bit more powerful/configurable and would suggest that is what you get.
Both of those units have 2 inputs.... the DCX has 6 outputs and the 1124 only has 2 outputs...

Your reciever should be running YPAO to eq all your speakers and you don't need any device to add external amps with the preouts on your 663, just run RCA out to the amps from the preouts, nothing more needed.

Sorry for the confusion. This is what I think my best route at this point is; option 1 - Add a DCX2496, Set my fronts and center to large in my AVR, Run the Pre amp outputs for the front L/C/R from my AVR to the DCX, use the DCX to seperate out the frequencies below say 80 hz and send to the subs and flatten the response and add a house curve with the parametric EQ, use the other outputs for the DCX to feed an amp or two for the front L/C/R.

Option 2 was to add an 1124 for the subs and then later add a DEQ2496 and amps for the front L/C/R channels.

Is there any benefit to either of these options or is there a better option?

The ultimate goal is to flatten the frequency response of my subs, add a house curve, and integrate them with my fronts. The other goal is to add some better control over my front L/C/R since my AVR has a global crossover point for all speakers and the sub combined. I also dont like that the paramatric eq on the AVR is not adjustable, it is only set by the YPAO.

What is wrong with the global crossover, you measure your room with REW and choose what the best crossover is for your particular situation / room....

Really all you need is an EQ for your subs and possibly some room treatments to help with some problems in your upper freq response.

My point is that you cannot use more then 2 inputs on either or any of the Behringers unit... so you can't work your entire front 3 off a single unit. You would need 3 units.... 1 for your subs, one for your mains and the 3rd for just the center channel.
