when i told my wife i was planning on "upgrading" my sub with a bigger/better one, i got a nasty look. if i build something like that beast, i'll end up in divorce court for sure. the lfm-1ex is only a little bigger than the 12" that goes with my ba9500 micro system. she probably wouldn't notice too much of a difference in size. now i just have to hope for a sale!
Gee, you got off lucky!!! I got the death stare as well as the riot act

I have compared the EX to the VTF3 mk3, I own two of each. The performance is close, but the VTF3 does tackle deep bass better. The VTF3 mk4, with the addition of its Q control, is just going to be that much better. Reportedly there have been some driver enhancements with the mk4 as well. I really like the EX, but if they are the same price, there is no reason not to go with the VTF3.
Thanks for the info. Now I have to hear a VTF-3. With what the EX is capable of I can only imagine how the HSU sounds.

It looks like the hsu is 650 with 100 shipping and the xs15 is 750 with free shipping. Would the xs 15 be better because of the larger driver and 500 watts compared to 12 and 350 on the hsu?

Size matters for some things, subwoofers included, so more then likely the XS15 would be the better choice. I'm listening to one at this very moment, and I personally think it's worth more then $750.

I would guess the XS15 has more mid bass output, in the region of 50 hz, but it won't match the deep bass output of the VTF3. The larger driver and more powerful amp can not overcome the efficiency of some large ports. The Power Sound sub that would more properly be compared to the VTF3 is the XV15.
