Hi there!
Have a 14*11 room that is clean. No walls up yet. Have a 5.1 system so I'm installing a 45*80 screen and will project from ceiling.
Here are my questions.
- Should the front speaker go above or below the screen? The screen is 4 feet above floor.
- I assume that I will place a front speaker above the screen and two fronts on the side of the screens 2-3 feet above sitting ear height, or?
- Can I place the rear speakers on the back wall or do they need to be in line with sitting ear location?
- How low should I place the rear speakers?
- I assume that the sub can go in the back of the room or?
Appreciate it!!

If your screen is 4 feet off the floor, I might suggest that you mount the center speaker along the bottom edge. Also depends on your ceiling height above the screen. Best placement will be having the tweeter closest to your ear hieght when you are sitting in your theater seat.

Again best option is the tweeter at ear height

You could, and this is probably the best option if you have you seating postion very close to the back wall (which you want to avoid if possible). I have had my setup in other apartment/houses with the speakers on the back wall, they sounded fine.

- How low should I place the rear speakers?

2-3 feet above ear level.

Play around and see what work best in your room. I have heard the ideal placement is 1/3 or 2/3 of the way back from the screen. I don't have a dedicated subwooofer (they are built into my mains Def Techs), so I will defer to other's opinions.

Appreciate it!!
Good Luck.

Might I suggest rethinking the screen location? With the screen bottom 4' off the floor, you're going to have a mighty stiff neck after watching looking up like that all the time.

The vertical center of the screen should be just slightly above your eye level when seated.
